Shelly Jacobs Ellerhorst

Counsel

Shelly Jacobs Ellerhorst practices environmental law, with an emphasis in complex water and hazardous waste related regulatory, enforcement, and litigation issues. Prior to joining M2C2, she had eight years' experience working with the current M2C2 team at their former AmLaw 100 firm.

She routinely defends clients against environmental citizen suits and CERCLA cost recovery and contribution actions. In addition, Shelly regularly handles complex regulatory matters arising under the Clean Water Act, RCRA, and their state law counterparts.  She also counsels clients on compliance issues, including procuring and complying with permits, drafting environmental, health and safety document retention policies, and making disclosures under EPA's Audit Policy.

Shelly is an active community volunteer. She is a reading mentor for and on the board of Everybody Wins! Atlanta, a literacy and mentoring nonprofit proven to build reading skills and a love of reading in low-income elementary students. She also represents clients in Juvenile Court through the Truancy Intervention Program. Shelly received her J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law in 2003 where she was a member of the Order of the Coif.
